So some of you don't know me I see and are asking just who is J. K. Coltrain? Well if you wanna read the same old bio that every artist has then just click here to read my autobiography but I will try to tell ya straight-up who I am. I have been singing as long as I can remember. I grew up with music & musicians all around me and I kinda assumed that everyone sang or at least played an instrument:) I have played everywhere that one can just about imagine for crowds that varied anywhere from 4 to 40,000 over a span of some 27 plus years. I have been privileged to have played with some of the very best entertainers in The World and even won a few awards along the way. Not too bad for an average guy with average looks and I would say just an average good voice lol.

I first landed in Nashville in the Fall of 1981 convinced that I was gonna be the next BIG thing. I didn't see how I could possibly fail as I had a brand new Gibson guitar, 2 new western shirts and a whole breifcase full of killer songs that I had written:) Anyways I hope someday to make this story into a book but I'll try to make it quick for now. It's kinda hard to try and describe your entire lifetime in few short paragraphs.
Soooo there I am in Nashville knocking on doors, well my cousin was pretty well known there on Music Row so I figured I'd be welcomed wherever I went. Not so, oh a couple did at least listen to my stuff trying real hard to keep from laughing at me I am sure as I think back on it today as some of it was pretty darn bad. In summary I lost a good deal of money & wasted a whole lot of time thanks to getting involved with some crooked agents, managers and such with no real clue as to what I was really doing just convinced that I was gonna make it in the music business somehow in someway. However I was one of the few lucky ones. Just by chance Justin Tubb, Son of the great Ernest Tubb heard me sing and invited me to come out to the renowned Midnite Jamboree where I met his Father. Ernest liked me for some reason,(he said I had a big head but a big heart to match), and he allowed me to perform regularly there on the show. I learned a whole lot that year as everybody that was anybody passed through there at one time or the other so I got a good healthy dose of humble pie. While it helped to make me realize that I was not even close to being in their class yet if ever but it also deepened my love for country music so I couldn't stop no matter how hard I tried and I did try several times over through the years:) So I keep singing & writing and just trying to make a living doing what I love to do spreading the gospel of country music.
